The 27th Lowell Wakefield International Fisheries Symposium, FISHING PEOPLE OF THE NORTH: CULTURES, ECONOMIES, AND MANAGEMENT RESPONDING TO CHANGE, will be held 14-18 September 2011 in Anchorage, Alaska. This international symposium will provide a forum for scholars, fishery managers, fishing families, and others to explore the human dimensions of fishery systems and growing need to include social science research in policy processes. Theme areas will include: (1) Human/Environment Relationships; (2) Fishing Communities in Transition; (3) Indigenous and Rural Knowledge and Communities; (4) Governance and Management Issues in the North; and (5) Celebrating the Life of Fishing Peoples Please submit proposed panel title, abstract (250 words), and expected speakers by 15 November 2010 to Courtney Carothers at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
